About Fishing The Drift

At Fishing The Drift, fly fishing isn’t just a pastime—it’s a way of life. Born from a deep respect for the water, the outdoors, and the timeless tradition of fly fishing, our brand represents more than just apparel—it embodies the spirit of the river.
As a proud veteran and lifelong outdoorsman, I’ve spent countless days chasing the perfect drift, reading the water, and embracing the rhythm of nature. Whether it’s the early morning mist rising from an untouched stream or the tug of a wild trout on the line, Fishing The Drift is built for those who find their peace in the cast and connection to the wild.
But fly fishing isn’t just about the catch—it’s about the story. Every cast carries a memory, every drift holds a lesson, and every day on the water writes a new chapter. That’s why we created Cast A Story, a movement dedicated to preserving and sharing the moments that make fly fishing so special.
At Fishing The Drift, we believe the true essence of fly fishing lies in the stories we tell—the ones passed down through generations, shared around campfires, and etched in the heart of every angler. Cast A Story is our way of honoring those experiences, giving every fisherman a platform to share their journey, their passion, and their connection to the water. Because in the end, the best part of fishing isn’t the fish—it’s the stories we bring home.
Our designs aren’t just inspired by the West—they are rooted in it. From the rugged currents of Idaho’s rivers to the untamed landscapes that define the fly fishing experience, our apparel speaks to those who live for the drift, the adventure, and the moments only found on the water.
But it’s about more than just the gear. At Fishing The Drift, we believe in giving back. That’s why a portion of every sale supports Project Healing Waters, helping fellow veterans find solace and strength through fly fishing. Because for many of us, the river isn’t just a place—it’s a form of healing.
So whether you’re chasing wild trout, exploring new waters, or simply casting your next story, welcome to Fishing The Drift—where passion meets purpose, and every cast has a story worth telling.
Tight lines & fair drifts,

Joseph (Joe) Cooper
Founder|Fishing The Drift
A lifelong outdoorsman, veteran, and entrepreneur, Joseph Cooper is the driving force behind Fishing The Drift, a brand built for those who live and breathe the fly fishing lifestyle. Whether wading through Idaho’s wild rivers or casting into remote mountain streams, Joseph’s love for the outdoors has been a defining part of his journey.
Joseph grew up in Idaho, where rugged landscapes and untamed waters shaped his adventurous spirit. His passion for exploration led him to serve in the United States Air Force, where he developed discipline, leadership, and a deep appreciation for the peace found only in nature. After earning a Business Degree from Boise State University, he built a 35-year career at HP Inc., refining his expertise in leadership and team development, strategic planning, customer focus, relationship management, and business and technical acumen. Along the way, he cultivated a sharp eye for innovation, problem-solving, and branding—skills he now channels into Fishing The Drift.
But beyond the business, Fishing The Drift is a personal mission. Joseph created the brand to capture the essence of fly fishing—the thrill of the chase, the solace of the river, and most importantly, the stories that connect us all. Through Cast A Story, he is building a community where anglers can share their experiences, celebrate their passion, and preserve the legacy of fly fishing for future generations.
Joseph’s commitment extends beyond the water. As a proud veteran, he ensures that Fishing The Drift gives back by donating a portion of sales to Project Healing Waters, supporting fellow veterans through the healing power of fly fishing.
When he’s not running Fishing The Drift or his real estate business, Cooper Ridge Real Estate, you’ll find Joseph exploring the backcountry, casting flies at sunrise, golfing, or spending time with his wife, grandchildren, and his two Jack Russells. Whether on the river or in business, he lives by one philosophy—Every cast is an opportunity, and every drift tells a story.
